ABSTRACT

An online immersive VR (iVR) creation tool, Google Tour Creator, was adopted in an undergraduate general education course because it enabled students to create iVR presentations highlighting their research of an historical location. When Google Tour Creator abruptly discontinued, the Instructional Technology support staff was instrumental in finding an emergent iVR creation tool, Thinglink (Thinglink Incorporated) to continue the assignment. This case study explores ethical considerations of student-created iVR with evolving educational technology tools, including tools that are free for faculty and students. The student project details include justification for using iVR, learning objectives, learning outcome assessment, and student perspectives of creating iVR.
