ABSTRACT

By the turn of 21st century people, workers and consumers had attained the highest levels of prosperity and wellbeing since WWII. To a large extent progress was the result of the Quality Movement (QM) that started by 1980 secured by the emerging QM discipline. QM is the operational methodology that induced the paradigm shift in management from resources-fixed to people's wellbeing in the workplace, the marketplace and society. Consistent positive results of QM induced countries worldwide to pursue people-based development led by productivity and performance excellence at the core to Human Centered Management (HCM) and operational in SQM Pillar 5. Despite QM challenges and disincentives of the last decades, exacerbated by Covid-19 pandemic and ongoing global crises, QM surfaces as an incomparable alternative to restore progress, wellbeing of people and sustainability of organizations and nations. This chapter discusses QM embedded in wellbeing aligned with HCM principles and practices in the global VUCA environment.
