ABSTRACT

The concluding chapter of this book summarizes the main themes that emerged from the individual chapters and connects them to Loraine Obler's pioneering and ongoing work in the field of neurolinguistics. The themes discussed include bilingualism and aphasia, the aging brain and its relevance to language decline, bilingualism and dementia, discourse and conversation, the Life Participation Approach to Aphasia, and the interface between behavioral studies and technological and/or medical advances. This chapter also points the reader towards the future of the field of neurolinguistics.
