ABSTRACT

The advent of the Covid-19 Corona virus pandemic has brought huge changes in our society but the major impact is the role that digitalisation has played in our daily lives. The small virtual screen has acted as a window or gateway for almost all human transactions such as science, business and education. It can be aptly said that “technology rules the world”. Besides conquering the entire world, digitalisation has also been able to revive the “cultural heritage” of our civilisation. The present paper would demonstrate how digitalisation can revive one such dying art form of music, i.e., “Ghazals”. The once most popular subcontinent music, “ghazal” is now on the verge of extinction and it is only digitalisation that can serve as a medium for its survival. The present paper would analyse and explore how digitalisation can contribute to keeping the “Gazals”, which is the “pride of Urdu poetry”, a rich cultural heritage of ancient art form alive.
