The Preservation and Performance of Intangible Cultural Heritage on Social Media: A Critical Estimation

In this paper, we examine the possibility of preserving the intangible cultural heritage of communities on social media. We view such preservation as a means to ensure the vicarious survival of a community if it is faced with what Walter Benjamin tellingly terms “catastrophe”. To this end, we scrutinise the heterroglossic and co-creational participation of users on social media platform.
