ABSTRACT

One day in January 2014, Catalina and the author were drinking in a local corner bar. Gales of alcoholic laughter were already resonating throughout the place. Shocked by Catalina’s story, the author instantly offered her help because if she wished, she could report Jonny to the Women’s Special Police Office. After this day, the author only had sparse communication with Catalina through a mobile application. She often posted very sensuous pictures of herself on her app profile that mimicked those portraits of vintage femmes fatales. Touched by Catalina’s particular drama, but without knowing how to deal with it, the author found recourse to transform it into a fictional piece. Through fiction, she attempted to comprehend what it would be like to have such an intimate relationship with a mobile phone and the social media application that allowed Catalina to build the most varied representations of herself.
