ABSTRACT

Reflecting on the challenges that post-truth politics poses to ethical public speaking, this chapter offers a path forward by proposing the importance of relying on postcolonial approaches to promote ethical public speaking in our pedagogical pursuits. Examining the literature on post-truth politics invites considering postcolonial approaches for a more nuanced conceptualization of issues of importance to our communities. Such a critical lens can help educators promote critical thinking and promote collective interest in social justice.
