ABSTRACT

The geographic data and business data is used to develop Geographic Information Systems (GIS) enabled solutions. This digitized data of infrastructure components is used for analytics and real-time monitoring of assets. These solutions are implemented for policy makers, power plant companies, and distribution companies. Geographic Information Systems (GIS) in addition to Remote Sensing (RS) helps in mapping on spatial and temporal scales of the resources and demand. The spatial database of resource availability and the demand assists in the regional energy planning for energy companies. Since 2010„ global investment in renewable energy capacity has touched the USD 200 billion mark every year achieving USD 282 billion in 2019. Dollar investment in new renewable power capacity including all hydropower far exceeded investment in natural gas, coal and nuclear power capacity in 2019, approximately 75% of the total committed to new power generating capacity.
