ABSTRACT

The infrastructure for the energy and utilities is first planned and then managed by different sources namely central government, state levels corporations and private firms causing non-compliance & conformance to global or required quality standards changing from time to time. The infrastructure includes transportation systems such as railways, trucks, storage of raw fuel, quality of power grid, reliability of distribution network assets namely pipelines, network of energy assets and human resources. This challenge can be fulfilled by using Information Technology and GIS solutions to enhance performance and improve quality of energy infrastructure in line with global levels. The geographic data and business data is used to develop GIS enabled solutions.

This paper highlights latest developments in implementing GPS and GIS tools and applications in energy sector in various parts of the world.
