ABSTRACT

This applied research paper proposes, a framework model, in which the ways to identify ‘similar construction methods and materials’, used in the Indian coastal village housing construction through ‘Data Mining’ technology with ‘Association Analysis – Apriori Algorithm’, has been discussed and tested, with existing sample survey data of the Indian coastal village housing parameters by CSIR SERC. It will be helpful for the decision makers in the field of disaster mitigation to identify the most vulnerable houses and suitable building construction guidance/methods can be given by the engineers, to withstand the cyclone damages. It is a ‘life saving’ method/guidance/advice to the concern people who are living in the coastal Indian villages’. Since India is a country, which is surrounded by water from three sides, the blue economy has a huge potential to drive sustainable economic growth activities dependent on marine resources like fisheries, seaports, shipping, tourism, renewable ocean energy, seabed exploration and minerals. The blue economic development focused on livelihood generation, employment and improving the living standards of coastal communities. The human settlements near the coastal areas has to be provided with ‘coastal structures’, which will withstand any natural and man-made disasters. This ‘FRAMEWORK MODEL’, is ready for the ‘FULL SCALE MODEL’.
