ABSTRACT

In creating a socio-cultural discourse that nurtures children’s wellbeing, this chapter unpicks the need for deep listening and self-reflection by adults. We start by exploring the construct of children’s holistic wellbeing and the close relationship with listening as a reflexive, strength-based approach in line with SDG 3 (UNESCO, 2015). Two community-based approaches as pedagogies of hope for promoting a listening culture and nurturing children’s wellbeing are provided from Western Australia and a Palestinian refugee camp.
