ABSTRACT

The Horniman Museum and Gardens is London’s only museum where nature and culture can be seen side by side. Given this, and its audience of families with young children, a major part of its work is to engage people in positive actions around the climate and biodiversity crisis. The chapter gives examples of how the Horniman has tried to be an exemplar of good practice in reducing carbon emissions, waste and pollution and increasing biodiversity and highlights some of the issues and challenges in this work. It also shows how the organisation has tried to empower its visitors to make positive changes in their own lives.
