ABSTRACT

Between 2007 and 2022, 28 planning program-community partnership projects addressing issues identified by community partners were developed through three types of undergraduate and graduate courses. We share insight regarding logistics necessary for successful plan development, including how to develop and maintain relationships with community partners, organize the academic courses, obtain public input, and produce, print, and distribute the final plan. We discuss the success of partnerships by considering both the benefits to the students and the community. Faculty impacts include increased workload but provide altruistic fulfillment and opportunities for career advancement.
