ABSTRACT

The chapter describes five types of University-Community Partnerships (UCPs) that exist in Australia – three at the national level, one at the state level, and one at the local level. It compares their focus, costs, sustainability, outcomes, and ease of implementation. The most successful is the national-level Planning Institute of Australia (PIA) accreditation process. However, the UCPs do not operate in a vacuum, as synergies exist between all types.
