ABSTRACT

This concluding chapter looks at the collective impact of the work represented within and across each of the 26 chapters of this handbook, and in the context of the framing questions of: how can university-community partnerships in planning education work, and how can they be transformative? In reflecting on the abundance of best practices, innovative projects, and evaluation metrics that are provided by the contributing authors of this handbook as a collective, this chapter focuses on and highlights several themes that run throughout: how university-community partnerships can work as a pedagogical device, how to create and sustain partnerships, how to recognize and compensate the partners, and how resources and funding can be used to support the project and promote equity among the partners. The collective impact of the work discussed in this handbook illustrates how the planning profession is being transformed.
