ABSTRACT

This chapter explores the experiences of Albanian Catholic bilingual primary schoolteachers during an academic exchange with Spanish Catholic bilingual primary teachers. The study aims to uncover challenges and opportunities encountered during the program and suggest improvements to create more meaningful engagement. International exchange programs enhance teachers’ capacity by exposing them to new teaching methods, contributing significantly to their professional development and raising their awareness of different educational policies and forms of inclusive teaching methods. Teacher exchange programs can influence participants’ beliefs and values, challenging their educational philosophies and methodologies, and forming or reformulating teacher identity and agency. The Comenius and Erasmus programs aim to guide participants in skill development to reflect European education ideals and meet the changing needs of education.
