ABSTRACT

After more than three decades since the fall of communism, Eastern European countries find themselves influenced by the past. Faced with the 4 th industrial revolution, the old, ingrained attitudes are challenged by waves of extraordinary technical advancements, promising disruptive transformations. This chapter presents as a potential solution technological intrapreneurship as a means of turning the tides from obedient order-taker to digital consultant, harnessing the opportunities of the new era. Looking at a series of frameworks of future skills, we discussed five main competencies that need to be instilled in the new generation of Eastern Europeans. The construction style used was that of a field-guide, building upon diverse studies — academic research as well as personal observation made through interacting and understanding people involved in technology service firms. Each of the five skills of the tech intrapreneur is followed up by a series of recommendations and guidelines.
