ABSTRACT

The author describes her encounters with orcas of the Salish Sea, specifically Southern Resident Killer Whales, and the personal effects they had on her. Over a five-day period, the author engages in a terrapsychological practice, writing from a beach on Vashon Island, Washington. She explores her relationship with – and connection to – the land and water, the orcas, the salmon they feed upon, her colonial ancestors, and the Indigenous people of the region.
