ABSTRACT

This chapter provides accurate and educational information on five perspectives regarding information technology specialists. It discusses the relation of IT specialists to terrorism and disasters and identify how these individuals went from support positions to the front line in these disruptive and even dangerous events. An information technology specialist, more commonly known as an IT specialist, is defined differently within government and private organizations. Whenever an error is found or a notification is given that indicates something is not working properly, an information technology specialist must be contacted to report the problem, shut it down, and take the necessary steps to correct it. It is consequently critical for an information technology specialist to prepare for a variety of diverse and creative potential disasters and problems that could arise in order to mitigate the issues.
