ABSTRACT

In this chapter, titled “Use Performance to Encourage Completion,” B. Morey Stockwell, PhD, argues that any artist/creative/maker working in any art form benefits from working toward a performance. When a creative decides to perform their craft for an audience, their attention and mental energy shift and focus on completing the project. She explains how products of any of the seven art forms – literary, visual, performing, fiber, industrial, environmental, and culinary – can be staged. The simple steps include choosing a product, deciding on a date, securing a venue, and inviting an audience.
