ABSTRACT

In this chapter, “Finishing by Design,” the author focuses on the five finishing designs that creatives most commonly experience. She identifies these designs as voices. The voices emerge as glittery object syndrome, perfectionism, mismatched expectations, no momentum, and passion is gone. Creatives can reckon with these excuses by learning to recognize when there is a finishing penalty flag on their creative field and digging into the story they are telling themselves so that they can write a new story.
