ABSTRACT
German and Austrian males were unanimous, however, in their praise of Australian women. The author was impressed most by Australian women. The face of the Australian woman is in general regularly formed and in most cases must be described as downright pretty. Australian women, especially those born in the colony of Victoria, look healthier and more flourishing than our continental girls. No doubt the Australian women receive their advantages from an outdoor life and a daily wash or bath in cold water. Shyness and prudery, or even timidity, in contact with the male, is unknown among Australian women. Yes, it would not be at all surprising if in Germany people involved were to ignite in a consummating fire of love which would not go out until marriage provided a strong jet of cold water to quickly dampen the fire and extinguish it. No English, American or Australian woman would readily let herself go with a man or be taken by surprise.
