ABSTRACT

The aim of this chapter is to analyse the changes in the field of social issues during the COVID-19 pandemic period in Visegrad Group countries. Their territorial scope is supported by the uniqueness of this area manifested by the common experience of the specificity of the post-totalitarian state, a similar level of economic development and economic situation, as well as the high ethnic homogeneity of the countries in the region.

The analysis concerns the actions implemented by states during the COVID-19 pandemic period, their differentiation in terms of the time of its undertaking and methods, with particular emphasis on counteracting social problems in such fields as migration, employment and unemployment, climate policy, crime prevention and solving cultural and social problems, as well as cultural and social problems resulting from the reorganisation of social life and imposed social isolation.
