ABSTRACT

This article studies the imprint of technological artefacts, particularly telephone, television, and computer by using DH method and tools. It also proposes a new method quantitative stepwise analysis (QSA) which has a proper methodological structure to study any predetermined/identified discourse of the corpus. The text mining and visualization tools such as KWIC, topic modelling, and RAWGraph are deployed to extract and visualize the discourses of technological artefacts in the selected corpus of novels (1947–2017). The bubble charts explicate the various gender-pertaining discourses of technological devices identified from the text mining. These discourses are discussed with examples from the selected novels. Finally, this chapter concludes with a discussion of the overall of gender disparity including reinforcing the traditional ideologies for women characters and creating new ideologies for women and men characters.
