ABSTRACT

The physical archives in India, in the contexts of financial constraints and global general evasiveness, face an existential challenge. This chapter tries to understand the potential of digital archives in India in curating Indian literatures and cultures in terms of collections, data visualization, and access with respect to dwindling interests and functions of the physical archives. It suggests few structural and curatorial policies and models for the Indian digital archives to respond to the proliferation of digital technology and Web 2.0 tools.
