ABSTRACT

This chapter explores the use of dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) in full fidelity on an inpatient forensic unit at a state hospital. The unit, which is located at Oregon State Hospital, is the first inpatient unit to obtain certification as a DBT program. This chapter provides a brief overview of DBT, modifications that were made to accommodate a forensic, inpatient setting, outcome measures used to track improvement, and obstacles to running such a program.
