ABSTRACT

From the year 1996 to 2001 the Taliban ruled a large part, about threequarters of Afghanistan’s land, and implemented a strict type of Sharia or Islamic law in the country and transferred the capital of Afghanistan to Kandahar of the new Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan, recognised only by three nations—Pakistan, Saudi Arabia and United Arab Emirates. August 15, 2021, now became a red-letter day in the history of modern Afghanistan because the Taliban—a militant turned political group— in a series of capture/victory ultimately occupied Kabul, the capital of Afghanistan and compelled an elected President of the country to take shelter in a neighbouring nation, with thousands of others who disliked the earlier regime of the Taliban between 1996 and 2001. The Taliban, the present ruler of Afghanistan, which captured power by force, has avowed to follow the Sharia rules and the reason South Asia is fearful about its nefarious motives and designs.
