ABSTRACT

In this chapter, the author shares experiences from teaching a doctoral-level seminar centered heavily around Loughran's work on a pedagogy of teacher education (PTE). The author considers how he further learned a PTE by teaching about the PTE. He centers his description of his learning in this chapter on three pedagogies of teacher education highlighted by Loughran: disturbing practice, open-mindedness, and uncertainty of practice. This chapter provides insights into one teacher educator's experiences in learning how to teach emerging teacher educators. The process of teaching teacher educators is filled with uncertainty, unexpected and problematic moments, and sudden alterations to pedagogy and expectations. The author highlights the importance of explicating experience and practice for emerging teacher educators so they learn from teacher educators’ experiences and effectively teach others how to teach.
