This chapter discusses the case studies of two Asian Smart cities, Masdar City, Abu Dhabi, and Magarpatta City (Pune), India, which are unique in their approach to development and contributed differently to the social and economic development. The purpose of this research is to make a comparative analysis of these two cities to study the socio-economic impact of development of smart cities and the attributes that contributed to the success of these cities. Furthermore, critical parameters are identified, which if present in the smart city initiatives will lead to its success.
