ABSTRACT

The Fourth Industrial Revolution describes the blurring of boundaries between the physical, digital and biological worlds. The Fourth Industrial Revolution is a complex environment of integrated and interactive cyber and physical worlds. The Fourth Industrial Revolution will implement sustainable hyper-connectivity, hyper-convergence and hyper-intelligence, technologically and socially. Socio-technical systems theory describes systems of complex interactions between the environmental aspects of human, mechanical and biological systems. It is a fusion of artificial intelligence (AI), robotics, the Internet of Things (IoT), 3D printing, genetic engineering and quantum computing. The Fourth Industrial Revolution is changing how we live, work and communicate, reshaping government, education, healthcare and commerce, and most aspects of life. The global pandemic suggests we are in the middle of a technological revolution. The Fourth Industrial Revolution represents a new stage in the organisation and control of the industrial value chain, especially when coupled with machine learning and artificial intelligence.
