ABSTRACT

Swift trust has traditionally focused on teams with people who have not necessarily met but are now under the time pressure to accomplish a common goal. In today’s fast-paced, technology dominated work environment, the conditions for swift trust are still there, but one is likely expected to work with both humans and technology (e.g., AI, machine learning, etc.). In this present work, we review the human-to-human swift trust and elements that engender this form of trust. We later expand it to include two other forms of swift trust that involve technology (swift trust through technology and swift trust towards technology). This expansion of swift trust requires one to take a renewed look at the requirements of swift trust and its trust-building process, especially when AI as a technology has the potential to assist humans, but also to replace their jobs.
