ABSTRACT

Online platforms are becoming ubiquitous around the world, used for a variety of purposes. Using them, however, comes with uncertainties and risks regarding the security and sharing of one’s personal information. An important factor influencing the propensity to use online services is digital trust. The purpose of this chapter is to present the results of a survey on trust in the use of online services among SGGW students and to suggest directions for further research. Using an online survey, 312 first-year students at the Faculty of Economics at SGGW were surveyed. The most important conclusion that can be drawn from this study is that students have a fairly high level of trust in online services. They have the most confidence in booking services, finding products to buy, comparing prices, and checking their bank balance, as well as in e-commerce, e-learning, e-libraries, and mobile payments. They consider it rather safe to use these services. They have no problem sharing their personal data, although they are aware of the potential risks of the internet.
