ABSTRACT

The objective of this chapter was to present some reflections on the importance of knowledge, expressed through intellectual, social, and cultural capital, as well as the role of a leader in the management of this knowledge. Knowledge Management becomes an important skill in a leader who must develop it to guarantee the competitiveness of the company. Knowledge expressed through innovation and creativity become factors that differentiate rich nations from those that are not and become the differential factors in the competitiveness of the business fabric. There are many theories, styles, and approaches to leadership. However, the current environment requires developing global thinking, being visionary, understanding and respecting cultural differences and human development, becoming familiar with the advances of the IV Industrial Revolution, having the ability to form networks and alliances, and showing ethical behaviour. The leader must know how to manage knowledge as the intangible asset that has displaced traditional assets such as land, work, and capital. The methodology addressed was Document Analysis as a Qualitative Research Method. Among the results found, it was noted that the leader must rely on his team and know when to delegate, empower, share, and give up his position if and when required. It is important to achieve the objectives through adopting an agile and continuous learning mindset. The practice of democratic and transformational leadership must be available to all and can be of vital importance for our future.
