ABSTRACT

This chapter will cover the unique aspects of assessment and treatment of mental health in children and adolescents, consider the impact of services and biopsychosocial factors on the mental health of children and adolescents and also discuss the epidemiology, presentation, treatment and outcome of psychiatric disorders in children and young people (attachment disorders, conduct disorder, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder [ADHD], anxiety disorders, affective disorders, psychosis, eating disorders, autism spectrum disorders, substance misuse and tics).
