ABSTRACT

Although the silence behavior of employees was perceived as an indicator of harmony according to the classical management approach, in today’s modern management world it is perceived as a withdrawal reaction of employees from the organization. Hence, this chapter aims to present a comprehensive source and reference guide for researchers who are interested in the evolution of organizational silence. For this purpose, initially, voice and silence behaviors are defined. Then, the evolution and types of organizational silence are addressed. Following this, some antecedents and consequences of organizational silence are elaborately explained. Finally, suggestions and inferences are made to researchers and practitioners.
