ABSTRACT

Recently OTT platforms are significantly changing media consumption pattern in Bangladesh. OTT which refers to over-the-top media platform(s) is a mechanism through which you can watch a range of media over the Internet on any compatible device. To explore the sociocultural experience among OTT viewers this chapter employ online participant observation and social media ethnography as a method of enquiry. While the traditional television viewership is in transition, the experience is not devoid of debate and discussion in the online spaces. To explore the transition this chapter tries to unmask the digital sociality which is becoming inseparable from OTT viewership. This chapter argues that digital social is an integral part of OTT viewership which encourages viewers to be more active not only in viewing but also in content creation.
