ABSTRACT

This chapter aims to give an account of the mother and daughter relationship. Being born, a woman concedes the possibility of being a mother. Becoming a woman implies a profound work of transformation and modification that leads to the possibility of subjectivation. Mother and daughter are placed in the same space of femininity. Their complex and singular form of relationship will be essential for the girl's psychosexual development. The adolescent time will reveal the inner feminine in the daughter, being an invisible and disturbing task simultaneously. The treatment of adolescent patients will always be a challenge for the analyst. The catastrophic repetition of an original insufficiency in the relationship between the mother and the baby will generate a broad range of situations of extreme danger that will appear throughout childhood but will be defined in adolescence.
