ABSTRACT
This chapter is a speculative investigation of the archetypal forces underlying the Western Great White Male (GWM) ascension to the role of divine intelligence, based on the Enlightenment and industrial revolution. It then follows their recent loss of power, as evidenced by their lost monopoly on financial and technical power and the more recent emergence of a successor in the form of a powerful multifaceted, multiracial, democratized technological hive mind in social media, and technology more generally. The chapter considers the now deprecated state of GWM leadership and uses the Persian myth of Jamšid to identify a fatal lie that is the mythological source of their fall. Keeping with the Zoroastrian theme, GWM’s are described as being greeted by an abomination derived from their lie at the bridge of judgment and by a demon called the Loosener of Bones (in the guise of Black Lives Matter protestors) who is rendering judgment on the bronze symbols of their lost power. The chapter encourages us to adopt the perspective of Nietzsche’s Noble (Hu)man whose mastery of the underlying dialectic would enable us to move on from this phase of consciousness to face the greater challenges of an uncertain, technology-lead future.
