ABSTRACT

Narrated collectively by Bob Fecho, Dawan Coombs, Trevor Stewart, Rachel Scott, and Emelio DiSabato, this chapter explains the vital role reflection plays in embracing and learning from the tensions that accompany the process of becoming a teacher. Together, the authors point to the importance of attending to moments of success and moments of struggle and invite readers to engage the reflection necessary to write their own stories of becoming. Bob, Dawan, Trevor, Rachel, and Emelio each share one final wobble story to model and emphasize the immeasurable value of using story to examine your own journey of becoming. These stories demonstrate how reflection and story can nurture a teacher's development and illuminate a path toward becoming the teacher they want to be because—not in spite of—the challenges they encounter along the way.
