ABSTRACT

As around 20 per cent of children have an additional need, such as a health condition, a special educational need or mobility difficulties, it is important that such needs are examined to find ways to support physical development as well as making physical activity as inclusive as possible. This chapter explores how conditions such as asthma, sickle cell disease and diabetes can be a barrier to full participation, but importantly, it includes knowledge about steps that can be taken to overcome such barriers.
