ABSTRACT

The aim of the school is to help the educational, social, cultural and emotional needs of West Indian parents and their children. There were eight families in the group, and so the parents started with their children, twenty in all, ranging from two to twelve years. As a result of the school, some parents have attended courses and have improved themselves in many ways. One is now an Education Welfare Officer, and three are undergoing teacher training, One attended the Playgroup Course and is now working with our under-fives and in a mother and toddler club. Educational visits also form part of our curriculum, and the cost is generally met by the parents. Parents and children visit museums, places of interest, shows, cultural and social events and exhibitions.
