ABSTRACT

This chapter seeks to provide guidance on how to lead improvement in schools and districts by discussing the conditions that build the capacity for continuous improvement and offers practical tools for leading and enacting continuous improvement. Guidance is provided on how to establish conditions for improvement such as collaborative structures, a trusting culture, and alignment with organizational priorities. The chapter also presents a comprehensive toolbox that supports the transfer of learning from a preparation program or professional learning experience to leading improvement in schools. This toolbox can be adapted for district or school settings as well as non-education spaces.
