ABSTRACT

This chapter describes how a leadership team creates the organizational conditions that support the learning process. Professional and organizational capacity are interrelated. The professional capacity of the individual educator contributes to the collaborative capacity of the team, increasing the overall organizational capacity of the school(s). Building upon the toolbox chapter about highlighting leadership capacity, this chapter presents educational leaders with guidance on capacity building for the improvement team and school organization. To practice meaningful continuous improvement work and to make improvement science an operational norm, identifying the level of professional and organizational capacity is key.
