ABSTRACT

This chapter used an illustrative case to explore learning and leading equity-oriented improvement science. The chapter follows Ava Jackson through the second and third years of her EdD program as she learns how to lead improvement science in a cohort-based inquiry group that functions as a networked improvement community (NIC). At the same time, Ava is working with an improvement team in her school to solve a problem of practice related to inclusivity for LGBTQ+ youth and families. She completes a dissertation in practice (DiP), and at the end of the story, she graduates and begins a new improvement process with her school improvement team.
