ABSTRACT

The role of data is key in understanding both the problem of improvement and the steps improvers take to address the problem. This chapter will discuss the types of useful data (e.g., quantitative, qualitative, practical measures) and how those data might be collected, organized, and leveraged to forward improvement work. This chapter will describe reporting and communication structures for sharing data with the collective as well as strategies that will help improvers emphasize the importance of data collection processes and interpretation of evidence.
