ABSTRACT

This chapter discusses future directions for educational research from feminist and other gendered perspectives in light of the current sense of urgency about climate change and other ecological crises. Starting with a discussion of the global context, particularly from United Nations and UNESCO documents, the chapter then focuses on the Anthropocene/Capitalocene, changing conceptions of humans and nature, listening to new voices and the need to change both school curricula and pedagogy to take into account feminist and other gendered perspectives as well as changing conceptions of humans and nature. The chapter concludes with a discussion of generational differences and the possibilities of nihilistic hope.
