ABSTRACT

Through the modality of worlding framed as stories, this chapter discusses the means to imagine utopian imaginaries outside the Western-centred forms of capitalist exchange. The mechanism of storytelling gestures of worlding read in Vandana Singh’s short story “Indra’s Web” offers alternative possibilities to grapple with environmental degradation of the here and the now. Her chapter offers through the analysis of Singh’s story a rich account of how to tell stories that can re-conceptualize newer paradigms and alternative epistemologies to navigate the structural inequalities of today.
