ABSTRACT

Caste domination has created pain and pathology in self and society and social healing calls for transformation of caste domination, which in turn calls for both transformation of structures as well as consciousness. This chapter explores transformation of caste domination involving both transformation of social and cultural structures as well as transformation of consciousness. It discusses Ambedkar’s project of annihilation of caste and argues how this project calls for both political and spiritual transformation of self and society. It engages in dialogue with Ambedkar, Shankara, Gandhi, Sri Aurobindo and others for healing the pathology of caste domination.
