ABSTRACT

The final chapter, researched by Mandakini Baruah, brings the voices of folk dancers to the page. The first artist describes his background as a child born into a poor family. His deep interest in the Ojapali art form brings his culture to life and he discusses how Ojapali has been used to develop awareness of social problems. The next interviewee was also born into a poor family and he too performs Ojapali. After winning competitions and awards he has been recognised and awarded the title of Guru. The final artist speaks about Bihu as an expression of nature. He is a teacher who has engaged in many cultural exchanges.
