ABSTRACT

Margarita Méndez traces the emotions of envy and resentment that originate in the experience of class and social exclusion in Venezuela. This combination of exclusion and resentment has erupted from the unconscious seeking vengeance and retaliation. In this chapter the author sheds light on the psychological consequences of historic social conflicts in Venezuela. She has found that shedding light on the destructive shadow of exclusion and resentment offers a psychotherapeutic contribution to the individual in search of inclusion in the Venezuelan collective.
